The War

The Forest is an ever encroaching force. Constant documentation suggests the Forest grows at least two feet inward a night. Combined with population growth and agrarian needs, this leads to an obvious problem. As such, there is a centuries long policy of declaring War on the Forest every ten years. All nobles are expected to muster a full army, including purchasing the services of several priests, and are assigned a border to patrol and expand. These armies chop down and burn the Forest for a full year. A new palisade is built, and ten years of uneasy peace ensue.

The previous war, the 43rd, secured the Northern Wall.

The current war, the 44th, is ongoing and has added a vital strip of land connected to Camp Ferrum.
